Paxtan A.K.A TheBoyComingUp is a rapper, singer, song writer and graphic designer from
Lusaka, Zambia. He is specialized in Afropop, RnB, Pop, Hip-Hop and Trap Music.
Born Moses Mukelabai Mudenda, 31th May 1997 in Luanshya. Paxtan grew up in western province, Mongu but later moved to the capital city (Lusaka) in 2012.
Paxtan has always had love for music, but it was in high school that he discovered he had a talent in music after a group of students heard him rap (freestyle) at the dormitories.
He later started song writing in 2015 after he left Mumbwa Sec Boarding School for Nkonkola
High School located in Mazabuka, it was there that he also had his first recording session by
producers named SimzBoy and Lil Chim.
Paxtan did not take music serious at the time until after he graduated high school, he released his first single “Gold Coins” early 2017 and he has been putting out his work to the public ever since.
Paxtan’s goal is to be a major representative of Zambian music on the international market, he
feels Zambian music is not well recognized around the world. After graduating university, he plans to establish his own music company that will produce and promote Zambian music & artists to the rest of the world.
Paxtan is heavily inspired by his own art, he often says “I am my own biggest fan.” He also looks up to artists like A-Reece, Nasty C, Chris Brown, Drake and Lil Wayne. Locally, he is inspired by Jay Rox, Tim (Thugger), Pompi and by his close mate Marcus Namoonde (King Cus).
Just like most upcoming artists, funds prove to be a major challenge that he faces. He doesn’t have sponsors so he finds it difficult to effectively promote his music to reach a mass audience as he usually promotes his music on a low budget. Lack of support and opportunities from local radio/TV
stations in terms of air play and interviews as they are usually biased, adds to the list of challenges that he faces on his journey of becoming an established music act.
